CALENDAR CREATIONS

The best time to do this is late January.  Ask students to bring in old calendars from home.  The cuter the pictures the better.  As the years go by you will get a collection that students can choose from.  You may even put a wish list out to the entire school the first year, so you get a goodly selection to choose from right away.  Glue white construction paper with appropriate grade level writing lines on each calendar section.  (Parents can volunteer to do this) Students write sentences/paragraphs about the photos.  Ends up being a great project for young students.
