Children love food.  When I first started teaching, we would make special holiday cakes as treats for good behavior or great progress in a certain subject.

SKELETON-TEACHING BONES

STATE-SUNSET SKYLINE

The students loved this project.  They learned what a silhouette was and got to have fun painting a sunset.  I had them print a skyline of their city and trace it onto black construction paper.  After cutting it out, they glued it onto their sunset picture.
Below is one with the actual buildings showing and one on the black construction paper.
